Phoenix STS is delivering a public PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) course on Monday 28, Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September 2026.
First Aid Response is the recognised standard for occupational first aid training in Irish workplaces. Phoenix STS is a PHECC Recognised Institution, authorised to deliver and assess the FAR programme and issue joint PHECC/Phoenix STS certification to successful learners.

This is the full classroom-based FAR course, delivered over at least 18 contact hours. Learners must attend all three days and participate in the practical training and assessments.
Who should attend?
The course is suitable for people becoming designated workplace first aiders or requiring a recognised first aid qualification for their role.
This may include people working in:
- Healthcare and residential care
- Schools and childcare services
- Construction and manufacturing
- Hospitality and retail
- Sports and community organisations
- Public-facing workplaces
- Voluntary and community services
There are no formal entry requirements. Learners must, however, be able to participate in the practical elements and complete the required assessments.
What the course covers
- Patient assessment and scene safety
- Adult, child and infant CPR
- Use of an automated external defibrillator
- Adult, child and infant choking response
- Severe bleeding, wounds and shock
- Burns, scalds and electrical injuries
- Fractures, sprains and suspected spinal injuries
- Heart attack, stroke and breathing emergencies
- Asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes and seizures
- Unconsciousness and the recovery position
- Communication and handover to the emergency services
The course incorporates the PHECC Cardiac First Response Community standard. Learners take part in demonstrations, guided practice and realistic first aid scenarios using CPR manikins, an AED trainer and first aid equipment.
Assessment
Assessment consists of:
- PHECC practical skills assessments
- A 30-minute written paper containing 20 multiple-choice questions
- A written assessment pass mark of 60%
Learners must successfully complete both the practical and written assessments.
Certification
Successful learners receive a joint PHECC/Phoenix STS digital First Aid Response certificate.
The certificate is valid for two years from the course completion date.
Important booking information
All three dates form one complete programme. A learner who cannot attend the full programme may not meet the attendance and assessment requirements for certification.
